John "Louie" Johnson

John “Louie” Johnson, 68, of Orion, passed away, Sunday, January 24, 2021, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Cremation rites will be accorded.  Private family memorial services will be January 30, 2021, and a recording of the service will be available on Louie’s obituary page at www.esterdahl.com at a later date. Inurnment will be at Western Township Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Orion Athletic Booster Club, or Prostate Cancer Research Institute.  Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Orion, is assisting the family.

Louie was born on December 10, 1952, in Moline, the son of John and Katherine (Schmoll) Johnson.  He married Donna J. Adams on September 26, 1975, in Orion.  He worked his entire adult life at forklift dealerships within the Quad City area.   He started out as a mechanic and worked his way through the ranks as parts/service manager, then new unit sales and eventually ended his career as branch manager.  He was an active member of the Orion Athletic Booster Club serving as treasurer for several years.  He was instrumental in the fundraising and completion of the multi-purpose athletic room at Orion High School.  In his younger days he enjoyed coaching youth basketball and baseball teams.  He loved watching football and was a dedicated Chicago Bears fan.

He regularly attended church with his family and in 2013 entered the RCIA program and joined the Catholic faith officially.  As a devoted family man nothing gave him more joy than spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; children, Dr. Justin (Camille) Johnson, Bettendorf, Jennifer (Clint) Joesting, Monticello, IL; grandchildren, Carter, Bennett, Shelby, Gracie, and Gabby.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Marilyn Raes, Margie Johnson, Tina Lee.
