Jordan Schmidt

May 16, 1997 — January 12, 2013

Jordan Schmidt of Moline IL, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, early Saturday morning, January 12th 2013, following a courageous battle with cancer.

On May 16th, 1997 Michelle McMullen gave birth to Jordan Schmidt. He was raised in the Catholic school system; he attended Seton Catholic School and was a sophomore at Alleman Catholic High School, where he was cherished by his classmates and friends whom he loved very much.

During his short time here with us, Jordan made a very powerful impact. He was full of joy and happiness and lived his life to the fullest, never taking one single moment for granted. He was an angel sent here from heaven to live among us and teach us how precious life really is. He had an incredible desire to give and to make people smile. Jordan's faith in God was unfaltering. Through his devoted faith and generous spirit he touched the lives of everyone around him. Jordan was the spokesman for Tudi's Tribe, which is a non-profit organization helping children with cancer. (They helped him tremendously during his treatment.) He spent much of his time giving back to his community by volunteering his heart and his time to numerous charities and organizations such as Mr. Thanksgiving, Children's Miracle Network, and Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Jordan loved his school, being a Pioneer and his Alleman family very much and talked of them often. Family was extremely important to Jordan who had an unbreakable bond with his own. He cherished his family with all of his heart and the love and bond he shared with his mother Michelle was extraordinary. They were best friends. He was a big fan of Iowa Hawkeye football and a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs. In September of 2012, he and Michelle were able to meet Anthony Rizzo, the Cubs first baseman. Jordan really looked up to him. So much in fact he named his very beloved puppy "Rizzo" after him. Jordan loved to laugh and tell jokes. He was extremely clever, witty and just easy to be around. He had a heart of pure gold, bursting with love, kindness and gratitude. He always put others before himself and was so thankful for every single moment. Jordan was a blessing. He was a beautiful gift from God. He touched the hearts of everyone around him simply by being him. His optimistic outlook on life was contagious and his strength and courage an inspiration to us all.

Our world will never be the same without Jordan Schmidt in it but we take comfort in knowing that he is looking upon us from heaven, healthy, pain free and smiling, with both thumbs up! He delivered a pretty powerful message while he was here with us and we will always carry him in our hearts and remember what he taught us by being him. He passed on quite a legacy and the world is a better place because he was in it.
