Joseph F. Allison, Jr., 75, of Moline, died October 13, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave. Moline. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose-Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC).
Joe was born December 24, 1932 in Moline to Joseph and Lauraine (Peterson) Allison. He married Dorothy W. Engel on April 13, 1952 in Denver, CO. She preceded him in death on April 21, 1997.
Joe was an Air Force veteran. He worked and served his apprenticeship at Grekos Plumbing and also worked at Plumbers Plumbing and Heating and Mechanical Inc. He also owned and operated Allison-Albrecht Plumbing and Heating, Rock Island Plumbing and Heating and Plumbers Tavern.
Joe served on Moline Plumbing Board, Joint Apprenticeship Committee Local #25 and Health and Welfare Board Local #25. He was also a trustee for the Local #25 from Feb.3,1994-May 7, 2007. He retired from Local #25 on June 1, 1999 after 45 years. He also was a member of Moline Viking Club, Mechanical Contractors Association and Rock River Contractors Association. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, watching NASCAR, and enjoyed spending time with his many friends.
