Joseph F. Kipp, age 81, of East Moline, IL. passed away at University Hospital, Iowa City on Friday, August 10, 2007.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Joe was born August 19, 1925 in Hampton, IL., the son of Harry and Mary Etta Lear Kipp of Hampton. He attended Grade School in Hampton and graduated from United Township High School, East Moline in 1943. He married Bonnie Ferry of Moline on September 3, 1949.
Joe is a World War II Marine Veteran and was employed at John Deere Harvester Wks. East Moline for 42 years in the maintenance department, retiring in 1985. He belonged to Local 865, East Moline American Legion Post #227, The Moline Vikings Thor Lodge, was a Boy Scout Leader for twenty years, served a term on the United Township High School Board, Past president of Bowlesburg Dads Club and he played on several Softball Teams in the 1940's to 1960's, and was an All American Softball Player in 1954. He also was a past President and Vice President of The Quad Cities St. Louis Cardinal Fan Club.
Joe is survived by his wife, Bonnie, three sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Christine Kipp of East Moline, Sam and Geneie Kipp of Bettendorf, and Dan and Michelle Kipp of Colona. Five Grandchildren, Clayton and wife Megan Kipp, Wesley and wife Lindsay Kipp, Garrett and wife Regina Kipp, Alyson Kipp, and Brittany Kipp. Two Step Grandchildren, Monica Hoff and Kyle Sawyer.
Two sisters, Minnie Sample East Moline, Mary Jane Bernards, Waunakee, WI. One brother Albert Kipp and wife Carol, and a sister-in-law Margie Kipp both of Hampton, IL. Extended family- two brothers-in-law, Bill and wife Virginia Ferry and Bob and wife Patricia Ferry. Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and two sisters.
