Joseph M. Schelfaut, 82, of Moline, died Friday, August 12, 2011, at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf.
Memorial visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Inurnment will be at St. Mary's Mausoleum at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice.
Joseph was born January 2, 1929 in St. Nicholas, Belgium, the son of Leon and Irma Puylaert Schelfaut. He married Rosa Bollaert on May 3, 1952 in St. Nicholas, Belgium. Joseph and his wife and daughter moved to Moline from Belgium in September of 1958.
Joseph had been employed as an assembler for John Deere & Co., retiring in 1987 after 29 years. He was a 50 year member of the East End Club and for 20 years he gave tours at John Deere Harvester. He loved bowling and rolle bolle. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed baseball. Joseph also loved his dog, Krueger.
