Joseph James Seroka, age 76, of East Moline, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. with a rosary recited at
4:00 P.M.on Friday, April 23, 2010 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline with military honors conducted by East Moline American Legion Post #227. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joe Seroka Jr. Memorial Fund at Alleman High School or to Christ the King Catholic Church.
Joe was born February 17, 1934 in Streator, IL to Joseph and Dorothy Eurich Seroka. He married Rose Leto in 1960 in Streator, Illinois.
Joe graduated from Streator Township High School in 1952 where he was a star football and basketball player. He then accepted a football scholarship to the University of Illinois. He left college to enlist as a paratrooper in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of the 82nd Airborne from 1954- 1957. He later returned to the Univeristy of Illinois graduating with honors in 1969. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the University of Illinois Fighting Illini, Chicago Bears, and Alleman Football, and the Chicago White Sox. He loved to brag about his family and always enjoyed the choir at 4:30 mass at Christ the King. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and he loved his dog Misty.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, son Joseph Seroka, Jr., brother Bob Seroka, sister-in-law Isabelle Seroka, and brothers-in-law, Orlyn Frey and John Danko Jr.
