Joyce E. Sitzmore, 74, of Moline, IL, died Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or to a charity of your choice.
Joyce was born on July 8, 1939, in Clinton, IA, the daughter of Elmer and Mildred (Van Kampen) Hook. She married Walter Sitzmore on December 9, 1961, in Lawrenceville, IL, and he preceded her in death on August 1, 2003, in Moline.
Joyce attended Clinton High School, Clinton, IA. She retired in 1995 after 30 years of government service with the United States Army Armament Research Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC), located on Arsenal Island. She was a member of the RIA Ladies Golf League for many years, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of the East End Boulders Club. During her working years she was also known for her contagious and hearty laugh. She didn't have to be seen, she'd just laugh and her co-workers and friends knew she was around. Joyce loved spending time with her friends and family.
