Kathy K. Odean, Rock Island, passed away early Sunday morning at Trinity, Rock Island after a brief illness.
Kathy Sue Knuf was born in Quincy, IL on February 9, 1953, the daughter of Donald and Maxine Knuf. She graduated from Quincy High School and Elmhurst College. She came to Moline in 1979 to become Christian Education Director at First Congregational Church of Moline. There she met her future husband W. Reid Odean and they were married there in April, 1981. They had two children, Russell and Emily. As the kids grew she acquired a Masters Degree in Instructional Design from The University of Iowa. This led to a career as a partner of Quest International LLC, a management training and design consulting firm.
She is survived by the widower, her son (No. Hollywood, CA), her daughter (Joliet, IL), her mother (Quincy), a brother Kurt and his wife Susan (Quincy), an aunt, Sue Hart (Greenville, SC) and a nephew (Quincy). She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
A celebration of Kathy's life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 15, 2011 at First Congregational Church, 2201-7th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Memorials may be donated to First Congregational Church of Moline, or to the family for future charitable disbursement.
