Kenneth Erik Swanberg, 63, of Moline, passed away Sunday April 14, 2024, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday April 18, 2024, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Moline. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday April 17, 2024, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
Erik was born on December 3, 1960, in Ridgewood, New Jersey, the son of Rev. Dr. Kenneth H. and Josephine H. (Carter) Swanberg. He married Debra S. Schneekloth on April 25, 1980, at Calvary Lutheran Church. He had previously been employed as sales manager at R.H. Donnelley for over thirty-two years. After retirement, he went on to work as a family assistance coordinator for the National Guard and as a driver for Act II Transportation.
Erik was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher, confirmation mentor, camp counselor, and on church council. He was a member of the Svithoid Club, past president of the Moline Booster Club, volunteered with the Junior Achievement, and was an assistant Cubmaster. He also assisted with the National Guard family readiness groups. Erik enjoyed skiing, golfing and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie; sons, Derek (K.C.) Swanberg, Des Moines, Kenny (Keri) Swanberg, Colona; grandsons, Remington and Montgomery; siblings, Jennifer Swanberg, Moline, Jeffrey (Michele) Swanberg, Springfield, IL, Timothy Swanberg, Sycamore, IL; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
