Kenneth "Kenny" Hamerlinck

Kenneth R. Hamerlinck, 69, of Orion, died Tuesday, September 7, 2010 as a result of a heart attack while driving his semi on interstate 280.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 10, 2010 at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301-4th St., Orion. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery, Orion. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Orion Educational Fund.
Kenneth was born September 8, 1940 in Rock Island, the son of Robert and May (Marx) Hamerlinck. He married Virginia L. Hodge on January 2, 1960 in Colona, IL.
Kenny worked for the Orion Telephone Company for 25 years and also farmed his land and various farms in the Orion area. He was a wildlife conservation enthusiast and preserving the land was something that was very important to him. Kenny was an entrepreneur that enjoyed many projects including his partnership with the Sherrard Corner Mart and also the storage unit complex in Orion.
Kenny was a member of Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Orion. He was an avid horseman and accomplished barrel racer. He enjoyed hunting and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle; but above all spending time with his family.
