Kenneth L. Shields, 70, of Orion, died August 17, 2008 at University Hospital in Iowa City, IA.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2008 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. Orion. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation in honor of his late wife Leila Shields.
Ken was born April 29, 1938 in Valeria, IA to Myerl and Ethel (Pack) Shields. He married Leila J. Wicks on April 4, 1959 in Radcliffe, IA. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2005. He later married Lana Fitzpatrick on September 23, 2006 in Orion.
Ken owned and operated the Shields Sewing Center, Rock Island. He retired in 2006. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served on the council and Building and Renovation Committee. He was also was a member of the Orion Lions Club. Ken enjoyed playing golf and loved to tell jokes. He loved spending time with his family and friends especially grandchildren.
