Kenneth "Kenny" L. Wickenburg, 75, of Milan, died September 23, 2009 at University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City,IA.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave. Moline. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rural Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made be to the Rock Island County Conservation Club.
Ken was born August 24, 1934 in Rock Island to Gustaf Roy and Sylvia Marie Wickenburg.
He married Marjorie DeKeyrel on May 30, 1959 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2003.
Ken was a US. Army veteran serving as a MP in Germany. He was a plasterer for 31 years for Builder Sales and Service retiring in 1991. He was a member of Plasterers Union Area #26 for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Rock Island Conservation Club. He was one of the founding members of the Clockers Car Club. They were instrumental in starting the Cordova Drag Strip. He enjoyed fishing, antique tractors, collector cars, and spending time with family and the many wonderful friends.
He is survived by a son David Wickenburg, a daughter and son-in-law Teresa and Christopher Liedtke, sisters-in-law Pat DeKeyrel, Rita DeKeyrel, and Marian Zick. And many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie, parents, a brother and sister-in-law Roy and Gladys Wickenburg, sister and brother-in-law Juanita and Chester Selhost, a sister-in-law Mary DeKeyrel, and brother and sister-in-law Fred and Lillian DeKeyrel, brothers-in-law Charlie, Joe and Frank DeKeyrel.
