Kurt Edward Gainey

Kurt Edward Gainey, 60, of Moline, passed away Tuesday September 12, 2023, at UnityPoint Health Trinity Rock Island.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday September 16, 2023, at the Orion United Methodist Church, 407 12th  Avenue, Orion. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday at the Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 1301 4th Street, Orion. Cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment will be at Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to his family for a fund to be established.

Kurt was born on November 15, 1962, in Moline, the son of Thomas “Gus” L. and Nancy K. (Westerlund) Gainey. Kurt married Joni Sigler on September 12, 1987, in Coal Valley. He later married Mary (Stubbs) Newman on June 3, 2017, in Orion. He was previously employed as an auto mechanic and woodworker, retiring from Firestone, Davenport in 2003. He was a former member of the Orion United Methodist Church and was a John Deere enthusiast.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; mother, Nancy Gainey, Orion; daughter, Jordan (Nick) Kriner, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Micheala and Wyatt Kriner; siblings, Ty Gainey, Orion, Grant (Rhonda) Gainey, Orion, Neil (Rena) Gainey, Eldridge; brother-in-law, Roger Stubbs, Geneseo.

He was preceded in death by his father and sister-in-law, Pam Gainey.
