Larry "Stine" Eugene DeCap, age 71, of Colona, died on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 210-1st Street, Colona. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a 40 & 8 service at 7:00 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline with military honors conducted by Colona American Legion Post #1233. Memorials may be made to 40 & 8, La Chateau Park.
Larry was born August 3, 1942 in Moline, the son of Mitchell and Adeline (DeMara) DeCap. He married Janet (Betcher) Myres on January 13, 1997 on a cruise ship in the Caribbean.
Larry was employed as a truck driver for the Phoenix Corp. retiring after 35 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran. Larry was a member of American Legion Post #1233 in Colona for 49 years, a member of 40 & 8 for 35 years, and Local UAW 309. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Larry enjoyed camping, playing euchre, fishing, and parades for 40 & 8. He loved his sports, and was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan, as well as an Illini fan.
