Larry Don Scoggins, age 66, of Davenport, IA, died Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services. Burial of ashes will be at Freeport City Cemetery at a later date. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Moline is assisting the family.
Larry was born January 22, 1945 in Oakland, CA, the son of Henry David Scoggins and Mary McCulloch. He married Joyce Kay Schmieg on October 30, 1965, daughter of Charles Schmieg and Amy Arnold of Moline at First Evangelical Free Church.
Larry graduated from Moline Senior High School in 1963. He attended Black Hawk College, and graduated from Trinity College in Deerfield, IL in 1970 with a degree in elementary education. Larry began his teaching career in 1970 for the Freeport School District #145 as a third grade teacher. He continued as an elementary teacher until 1984. Larry then purchased Reliable Shoe Repair in 1984, and worked as a shoe repair person until 2002.

Proceeding Larry in death was his son, Eric Daniel Scoggins in May, 1991 and wife, Joyce Kay on December 29, 2002 in Baumholder, Germany.
