Lawrence C. Van De Maele, age 79, of Kewanee, formerly of Moline, passed away unexpectedly on August 5, 2013, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
The family is holding a private service and burial will be at National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI), Disabled American Veterans, or to the American Kidney Fund. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Larry was born on February 23, 1934, in Moline, IL, the son of Charles and Odile (De Meulenaere) Van De Maele. He served in the United States Navy from 1956 - 1957 during the Korean War. He worked for the Rock Island Lines as a machinist for 14 years. Subsequently, Larry worked as an expeditor for John Deere Harvester, and Crippy Co. as a janitor. Larry was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline and the Catholic Order of Forresters. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing poker, nature and feeding ducks and birds. Larry also enjoyed watching sports. He was a huge Cardinals fan and never missed watching a Notre Dame Football game.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
