LaVonna Sward-Kiesele-Bartlett

May 7, 1927 — February 14, 2025

formerly of Moline, Illinois

LaVonna passed away on February 14, 2025 after a long and exciting life of 97 years. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline, Illinois on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Visitation is at 11:00 am with the Celebration of Life following at 11:30 am.

LaVonna June Woods was born and raised in Gary, Indiana. She went to school at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois where she met her husband, Robert H. Sward. She and Bob raised three sons in Moline. She later married into two other loving and wonderful families, with Russell E. Kiesele and Boyd C. Bartlett.

La is survived by her children, Steven (Carla), Scott (Debby), Peter (Cyndee), Jan (Kurt), and Barbara, her nephew Phillip (Julia), niece Kathryn (Marty), 10 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

La’s life revolved around her extended families and the world of music. She taught piano lessons all her life and was on the music faculty at Black Hawk College. She lived an active life; and, in her last weeks, she could be seen playing piano at her church, giving piano lessons, and playing bridge. She was a dedicated performer in the Quad City Music Guild, and a life-long supporter of community groups and social activities.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your favorite charity or to La’s favorite charity, Elcho High School Music Department, 9630 Antigo St, Elcho, WI 54428.

The family is thrilled, to join you, in remembering her life. An amazing woman, we knew as La… “a note to follow So.”
