Lawrence J. Coussens, 90, of Moline, IL, died, Saturday, May 6, 2017, at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 412 – 10th Street, Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601-38th Avenue, Moline, with a Recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal, with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 246. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Lawrence was born on September 25, 1926, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Albert D. and Elizabeth Muylle Coussens. He married Norma Jean Biscontine on October 10, 1953 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rock Island, IL.
Lawrence was employed as a machinist at the Rock Island Arsenal for 35 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Moline, and he also enjoyed boxing movies, miniature vintage car collecting, and gardening. He loved family gatherings. Lawrence was a Navy veteran and was a member of the American Legion, Post 246, Moline.
