Lawrence Aaron Stephenson

October 10, 1938 — December 21, 2010

Lawrence Aaron Stephenson (Larry) 72, a forty-five year resident of Moline, died Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation will be from 4 - 7 P.M., Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, December 24, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cordova Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, 2546 Tech Drive, Bettendorf, Iowa, 52722.
Larry was born on October 10, 1938 in Moline, the son of Oscar and Vivian Stout Stephenson. He married Marion Claire Moody, July 5, 1957, Rock Island, Illinois.
He was employed at John Deere Seeding Division for 38 years, most recently as a Production Layout Inspector , retiring Dec. 31, 2003. After retiring, he enjoyed spending winters in Florida. This included Sunday evening meals at the Bradenton Steak 'n Shake with many friends from the Erie area.
Larry enjoyed traveling, watching college football, but above all, he loved spending time with his family. He was very proud of his three sons. He was happy he was able to be with the groups that traveled to Paris in April, 2010 and Alaska in August, 2010 with Paula Sands.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marion; sons David (Clelia) Stephenson, Detroit, MI and Bob (Patti) Stephenson, Philadelphia, PA; daughter - in- law Molly Stephenson, St. Louis, MO; grandchildren Francesca and Luke, Detriot, David and Sarah, Philidelphia, and Emma, St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by his son Bill, who died suddenly Sept. 13, 2009 in St. Louis.
