Lawrence A. VanVooren, age 75, of Moline, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3205-60th Street, Moline. Visitation is from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Believers Together Center of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Lawrence was born February 26, 1936 in Rock Island, the son of Jacob and Dorothy Fiers VanVooren. He married Beverly Vermost on February 1, 1958 in Geneseo.
Lawrence was a home builder, and the owner of VanVooren Construction Company. He was also employed by the city of Moline for many years. Lawrence was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Moline. He was also a member of the former Moline Elks Lodge, Oakwood Country Club, Geneseo Country Club, and the Kelly Greens Country Club in Ft. Myers, FL.
