Leon E. DeMink

Leon E. DeMink, 68, of Moline, passed away, March 25, 2025, at his home.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Moline are assisting the family.

Leon was born on August 1, 1956, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Raymond E. and Dorothy A. (Wilson) DeMink. He married Laure (Swank) DeMink on May 23, 1987, in Rock Island. Leon is a veteran, having served in the United States Army. He worked on the Rock Island Arsenal as a machinist for 30 years before retiring in 2011. After retirement, he worked part-time at Home Depot on the Met Team. Leon loved gardening, cooking, and the outdoors. He enjoyed feeding the birds, having bonfires, and fireworks. Leon also loved his home and being at home.

Survivors include his wife, Laure; daughter, Jackie DeMink; siblings, Ann Erickson, Raymond DeMink, Christopher (Jean) DeMink, Theresa Peterson, Matthew DeMink, Paul (Tara) DeMink; mother, Dorothy DeMink; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond DeMink; sister-in-law, Molly DeMink; brother-in-law, Fred Erickson and Greg Peterson; best friend, Scott Schram.
