Lillian J. Wallace, 81 of Moline died September 6, 2006 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 11a.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Memorials may be made to the March of Dimes (2117 State St. Bettendorf, IA 52722) or Progressive Baptist Church, Davenport (1302 E. 12th Street, Davenport, IA 52803).
Lillian was born April 23, 1925 in Columbia, KY to Hayward Avery and Aline Miller. She was raised by her grandparents William and Lillian Maxie. She married George William Wallace on October 29, 1955 in Moline. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2004.
Lillian was a clerk at Tannenbaum Grocery Store, Moline. From 1965-1973 she worked in the blue print room at International Harvester, East Moline. After working at International Harvester, she became a full time homemaker, dedicating herself to her family and being well known for her cooking.
After her recovery from Polio in the 1950's, Lillian was very grateful and became active in the March of Dimes organization. She was a member of Progressive Baptist Church, Davenport. She was also confirmed with First Covenant Church, Moline. She was a public speaker for her church and other religious based organizations. She was a member of Christian Business Women, League of Women Voters, and was involved with the Quad City Symphony. She volunteered her time with the Reach for Recovery for Women and the Rock Island County Jail Prison Ministry. She also sponsored a child in Haiti.
