Linda J. Saunders, age 61, of Orion, died Sunday, June 13th, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus after a courageous battle with lupus.
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 17th, 2010 at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. 1301 4th Street, Orion. Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Western Township Cemetery. In leiu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America or the Lutheran Social Service of Illinois Chapter for Adoption.
Linda was born on January 14th, 1949 in Galesburg, Illinois to Robert and Eleanora Gibb Morris. She married Alan Saunders on August 29th, 1970 in Galesburg.
Linda was employed as a visiting nurse with the Henry County Health Department for 25 years. She then was employed with the youth prison in Kewanee as a nurse retiring in 2004.
Linda graduated from Galesburg High School. She then graduated from the former Lutheran School of Nursing, Moline. She was connected with the Orion United Methodist Church.
Linda was truly a great lady and throughout her illness she never complained. It was through her nursing that she showed her love and care for others. Linda loved spending time with her family, and her grandson, Aiden, was truly the "apple of her eye."
She is survived by her Husband
