Linda Louise Sens

Linda Louise Sens, 84, died on September 18, 2024, in Silvis. She was born in Kewanee, Illinois on September 12, 1940, to Leroy and Lucille (Ballou) Hall. She was the eldest of their two children.

An inquisitive and intelligent child she became an avid reader and lover of books. After graduating from Moline High School, she went to work for John Deere, where she helped establish their corporate library.

While working at John Deere she met her future husband of 63 years and 7 months, James Sens, They married on February 18, 1961. Together they began their marriage living and working in Yuma, Arizona before returning to the Quad Cities and starting a family. 

Linda worked and volunteered as a librarian. She was a lover of music and played the accordion and piano in her younger years. Linda became a concerned environmentalist in her later years. A second-generation seamstress, Linda was also a lifelong knitter and became a true master of the craft. Her life was always committed to the raising and caring for her children and family.

In July of 2014, she suffered a severe stroke due to complications from an inherited life-long disorder. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and half-sister Virgina Wade. She will be remembered as a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend by her family and friends. She was a generous, kind and loving light.

She is survived in death by her husband, James and three children, Mark Sens of Batavia, Iowa, Susan Conant of Centralia, Washington, and Cynthia Sens of Silvis, Illinois; grandchildren, Carl Conant and Catherine Conant; and her sister, Lois Grissom of Moline, Illinois.

A private family funeral service was held on September 19, 2024, at Greenview Memorial Gardens. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Linda’s memory to the following organization: www.onetreeplanted.org.
