Lois B. Lyles Lewis, 100, of Coal Valley, IL, died Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL.
Private services will be held and burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the USO Rock Island, ATTN: IMRI-MWA, Building 110, 1-S.E., Rock Island, IL, 61299-5000. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Lois was born on November 11, 1915, in Mt. Vernon, IL, the daughter of Sherman and Myrtle H. Peace Lyles. She had worked at the Rock Island Arsenal, Chicago’s Corps of Engineers and later retired from John Deere.
Lois was a member of War Mothers. She enjoyed continuously volunteering for veterans and military service members and their families. Lois accrued 5000 hours of volunteering in her Quad Cities home area.
Lois was a toast mistress for Toast Masters as well as a church secretary and piano player. She loved to read and travel.
Survivors include her daughter, Doris (Walter) White; grandchildren, Garrison R. White, Gregory S. (Loren) White, Alicia Lyn (Duane) Burns, Adrienne Joy (Douglas) Green, Walter Guy (Tina) White, and Todd D. (Tracy) White; 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brother, Arthur.
