Lorette M. Johnson, 99, of Moline, died September 28, 2009 at Bickford Cottage, Moline.
Private family services are planned. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Memorials may be made to the Niabi Zoological Society or Seton School Foundation of Moline. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. is assisting the family.
Lorette was born December 15, 1909 in Rock Island, daughter of George and Gertrude Jessen Nickell. She married Harold Carl Johnson on February 21, 1935. He preceded her in death July 8, 2004.
Lorette graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School, Rock Island. Then she started a career as a beautician. She had many pastimes and interest, including playing bridge, bingo, boating, listening to opera on the radio before television arrived, cooking big family dinners, and trying out brand new recipes for their dinner club. She also enjoyed having picnics at their cottage on the Rock River and entertaining at their home in the Florida Keys, there was always room for another guest at the table. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
