After her husband was ordained, they resided in Nebraska, The Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Wisconsin before returning to Moline. She worked alongside him using her secretarial skills and was involved in many aspects of the church. She loved art and was incredibly talented. After her husband died, she moved to Oshkosh WI so she could be close to her daughter and grandsons. While in Oshkosh she participated in “Art after 60” at the apartment complex where she lived and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Lorraine’s faith in God and love of Jesus Christ was a big part of her life. She was involved in Bible Study, women’s groups, Sunday School and youth groups. She used her artistic talent to express her love of God by doing Black Light chalk drawings for various groups.
Lorraine had been living independently until she fell in May of 2020. The family would like to thank the staff of Edenbrook Oshkosh for taking such good care of her after her fall.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah Mellgren; grandsons Scott (Jennifer) Mellgren, Shawn (Shannon) Mellgren, Mark Mellgren, and Ross Mellgren; great grandchildren Tyus Mellgren, Brennon Mellgren, Colton Mellgren, Kiera Mellgren, Adrianna Geddes, Chloe Mellgren, Tyler Mellgren, Quinnlynn Mellgren, Trynitee Mellgren and Molly Mellgren; and several nephews and nieces.
