Lorraine Williams, 80, of Libertyville, IL, formerly of East Moline, passed away after a long and private battle with cancer Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at the Midwest Hospice, Skokie, IL.
Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at the Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2007 at First Christian Church, Moline. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Lorraine was born on May 3, 1927 in Cedar Rapids, IA to Sherman & Geneva Crank Madlock. She married Mallie Williams on July 31, 1954 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and lived in East Moline until 2004 when she moved to Libertyville. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2004.
She was employed at Younkers and United Township High School. She retired from United Township High School in 1985. She served on the boards of the Visiting Nurse Association and Skip Along Day Care Center.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Moline. After moving to Libertyville, she was active in Community Christian Church, Lincolnshire.
She is survived by her daughter, Karla Williams; Grandson, Nate Elsey-Williams; son-in-law, Ron Elsey,;sisters, Mrs. Patricia Hicks, Las Vegas; Mrs. Edward Brooks, Albany, NY; and brother, Gordon Madlock, Cedar Rapids, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mallie Williams, her sister, Betty Blakey, and brothers, John Madlock and Donald Madlock.
