Louis Russell Karns

Louis Russell "Pete" Karns, age 89, of Colona, died Saturday, July 25 2009 at his residence.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Bethel Assembly of God, Rock Island. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park with military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246.
Pete was born July 24, 1920 in Tipton, IA, the son of Louis Howard and Etta Minnie Mabel (Taylor) Karns. He married Margaret Lorraine Carlson on January 17, 1947 at Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island. She preceded him in death on August 19, 2006.
Pete was employed as a welder for John Deere for 25 years, retiring in 1985. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and received the Purple Heart. Pete was a member of Bethel Assembly of God, Rock Island.
