Louis M Hast

Louis Hast, 92, of East Moline, IL, died Thursday, February 9, 2017, at Park Vista, East Moline, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline.  Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2017, at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, where military honors will be conducted.  Memorials may be made to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.

Louis was born on September 6, 1924, in Des Moines, IA, the son of Fred and Rose Mohr Hast.  He married Elaine Preston on November 10, 1951, in Sheffield, IL.  He worked as a tool and die maker for International Harvester for 42 years, retiring in 1984.

Louis was a member of First United Methodist Church in Port Byron, IL, the Moline American Legion, Backwater Gamblers, and the Kewanee Black Knights Drum and Bugle Corps.  He was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Navy.  Also, Louis was an award-winning wood carver.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Elaine Hast; sons, Gary (Pam) Hast, David Hast, Gene Hast; daughter, Deb (Matt) Boyd; grandchildren, Michelle Simms, Paul Hast, and Amy Hast; great grandchildren, Alec Simms and Kameron Simms; sister-in-law, Helen (Wayne) Howell; several special nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Hast; daughter-in-law, Gretchen Hast; brother-in-law, Charles (Helen) Preston; sister-in-law, Barbara (Roy) Gustafson; nephews, Jeff, Louis, and Brian Hast.
