Louis E. Rowe, 84, of East Moline, died Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
A Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4th, 2006 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline with military rites conducted by Americn Legion Post #246. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to Bethany for Children & Families.
Louis Rowe was born July 30, 1921 in Chicago, a son of Eugene and Martha Rowe. He married Ann Heckler June 1, 1946 in Blue Island, IL.
He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1948. He worked at Baker's Dairy, Moline, for 40 years, retiring as president. After retirement he worked for Bethany for Children & Families for a number of years. Louis was a decorated veteran of World War II, serving in the 10th Mountain Division in Italy.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great -grandfather who loved being with his family. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid fan of University of Illinois teams and the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He was well-known for his many kindnesses to neighbors and friends.
Survivors inlcude his wife, Ann; children and spouses Gene Ann (Salvador) Cervantes, Moline, Marcy Johnson, East Moline, Gary (Linda), Rock Island, Michael (Kathleen) Elmhurst, IL and Dan , Silvis; grandchildren Andrew Rowe, Alexis Andrews, Anna Cervantes, Bradley Johnson, Rachel Bowes, Emily Johnson, Katie and Meagan Rowe, Jack and Sam Rowe, and Tori, Ashley, and Tanner Rowe; great-grandchildren Ben Andrews, Charlie Johnson and Emma Bowes, and a brother Neil Rowe, Hendersonville, NC.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard, and by his sister.
