Louis Nikolas Tertipes

Louis Nikolas Tertipes, 90, resident of Forest Hill, formerly of Coal Valley died November 3, 2009 at Forest Hill Health and Rehab Center, East Moline.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 6, 2009 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery with military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
Louis was born December 6, 1918 in Moline to Nikolas and Elaine (Lingris) Tertipes. He married Corinne Mildred Bailey on July 2, 1937 in Corydon, IA. She preceded him in death on January 15, 2000.
He farmed 50 acres in Coal Valley which is now Corlou Heights. Louis was also employed by Farmall in Rock Island. He was a construction worker on the new Moline High School and for other various companies. He later worked for 22 years as a machine operator in the tool room at Moline Plow Planter retiring on December 1, 1980.
Louis was a WWII Navy veteran. He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Rock Island, Moline American Legion Post #246, and Muscatine Moose Lodge.
He is survived by
