Louise L. Hellstrom, 78, of Silvis, IL, died Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at First Christian Church, 3501 7th Street, East Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church.
Louise was born on April 24, 1939, in Eddyville, IA, the daughter of Basil and Lavera Trueblood Foster. She married William Cary on October 10, 1968, in East Moline, IL, and he preceded her in death on January 4, 2000. She later married Robert Hellstrom on October 8, 2006, in East Moline. She worked as a 4th grade teacher at George O. Barr Elementary School, Silvis, IL, retiring after 30 years.
Louise was a member of First Christian Church in East Moline, where she was very active as a board member, pianist, financial secretary, and member of the women’s group. She was an NFL fan and enjoyed watching sports and golfing. She was a board member of QC Exchange Club. Louise enjoyed traveling and especially loved taking cruises.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Hellstrom, Silvis, IL; step daughter, Cathy (Tom) Leahey, Cicero, NY; step son, Chris (Jennifer) Cary, Dover-Foxcroft, ME; step grandchildren, Luca Carbone and Mike Carbone, NM, and Robbie Cary and Ryan Cary, ME; brother, Harold (Karen) Foster, Springfield, MO; nephews, Bryan (Beth) Foster, Springfield, MO, and their children, Claire and Sydney, Jon (Alicia) Foster, Stafford, MO, and their children, Tristan and Trevor; niece, Kristene (Gary) Locke, Rodgersville, MO, and their children, Erin, Amber, and Adam; nephew, Jeff Collins, Eckland, MO, and his children, Kaci and Shannon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; niece, Kathy Collins.
