Lowell N. Johnson 106, of Moline died March 10, 2006 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Funeral service will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2006 with a visitation from 9-9:30 a.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, Moline, Augustana College or Univeristy of Illinois College of Business.
Lowell was born June 17, 1899 in Moline to Emil J. Johnson and Emma M. Carlson. His mother died in 1905, and he was raised by his father and step-mother, Winnie P. Halgren. He was married to Marguerite Wilson.
He attended high school at Western Military Academy in Alton, IL; and the University of Illinois, College of Business, graduating in 1923. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War I.
He was a Vice President of Bowey's Inc. of Chicago, a chocolate/dairy product distributor, in charge of the Dari-Rich Western Division, and retired in the 1960's when the company was sold.
He was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Chicago, American Legion and First Lutheran Church, Moline.
He enjoyed traveling, and visited many European countries and Japan. One of his last trips was to Sweden when he was 91.
He is survived by his step-sister, Blanche Krueger, Morton, IL, and step-niece, Holli Cook of Peoria, IL.
