Lowery Burton Maloney age 86, of Moline, died Sunday, July 13, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal with military honors conducted by East Moline American Legion Post #227. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church or The Illinois Heart Association.
Lowery was born September 8, 1921 in Manito, IL the son of Roy and Sarah (Lowery) Maloney. He married Wilma E. Jones on July 4, 1946 in Pekin, IL.
Lowery was employed as a millright for International Harvester-Farmall in Rock Island for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline; Doric Lodge #319 AF & AM, Moline; Scottish Rite & Coordinate Bodies Valley of Moline; and the KAABA Temple, Davenport.. Lowery was also a World War II Army veteran; a member of VFW #2153, Moline; East Moline American Legion Post #227; a lifetime member of the Moline Elks and a former member and director of Rock Island Farmall Credit Union.
