Luther D. Johnson, age 85, of East Moline, formerly of Orion, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2010 at Trinity, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at St Paul Lutheran Church, Orion. Visitation is from10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial is at Western Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion or the Orion Public Library. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. Orion is assisting the family.
He was born July 7, 1925 in Owensboro, KY. He is survived by his wife Charlotte Johnson, daughter Holly Johnson of Moline, step-daughter Mary Wallace (Wilbur) of Blue Grass, IA., sister Barbara Kruger of Canada, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, square dancing, gunsmithing and was an avid reader.
He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Fannie Cantrell-Johnson, 2 sisters and his son Matt.
