Mardell Magee

Mardell J. Magee, 82, of Orion, IL, died Monday, December, 26, 2016, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, IL.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Orion United Methodist Church, 407 12th Avenue, Orion, IL.  Visitation will be from 10-12 at Church.  Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. is assisting the family with arrangements.  Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Orion United Methodist Church or to her family for a fund to be established.

Mardell was born on June 15, 1934, in Orion, Illinois, the daughter of Eugene and Helen Gorey Littell.  She married the love of her life, Earl V. Magee on July 5, 1952, in Orion, and he preceded her in death on May 15, 2007.

Mardell was employed with Modern Woodmen as both a phone operator and in the mail room for 32 years retiring in 1999.  She was a lifelong member of the Orion United Methodist Church and was very active in its ministries.  Mardell loved country music, dancing, ice skating and bus trips with her husband, Earl.  To Mardell, family was everything; she truly cherished her time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, to whom she was Mama Dell.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen L. Magee, Rock Island; son, Brian E. (Janet) Magee, Lynn Center; grandchildren, Mitchel (Courtney) Magee, Eldridge, Morgan (Brad) Ainsworth, Grimes, Iowa, Mason (Abby) Magee, Alpha, and Merrick Magee, Lynn Center; great grandchildren, Cash, Harper, Ava and Charlee; sister Mary Jane (Tom) Griffin, Orion; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and a sister, Betty Thomsen.
