Mardis "Marty" Cox, 77, of Orion, died Friday, August 27, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1001 9th Street, Orion. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery in Orion. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marty was born on October 2nd, 1932 in Wayne County, Iowa to Herman and Edith Vroman Cox. He married Marcia Hogren on March 19th, 1965 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion.
Marty was an Army veteran serving over 3 years during the Korean Conflict. During his service Marty was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars and the United Nations Service Medal.
Marty was employed by John Deere Harvester for 13 years as an assembler. Later he was the Street Commissioner for the Village of Orion retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Orion VFW Post #143

Brother Everett (Mary) Cox Wheaton, IL
Marty was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Marie Mickles and 3 brothers Gene, Roy and Merlin.
