Margaret Jane Brissman

Margaret Jane Brissman, age 96 of Rock Island died Thursday, July 20, 2006 at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Friendship Manor, Rock Island.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Private graveside services will be held, with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Augustana Women's Physical Education Department. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Moline is assisting the family.
Jane was born March 7, 1910 in Mulberry, IN the daughter of James Riley and Verde Prudence (Cohee) Sweet. She married LeRoy Brissman on June 4, 1938 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2001.
Jane graduated fron Purdue University and received her master's degree from Northwestern University. She was employed as a college professor at Augustana College for over 40 years retiring in 1974. Jane was the first female women's physical education instructor at Augustana. She was a long time Director of the Women's Physical Education Department, and a member of the Tribe of Vikings Hall of Fame.
