Margaret A. Combs, 86 of Rock Island died July 11, 2006 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 11a.m. Friday, July 14, 2006 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. with a memorial service at 6:45 p.m. conducted by the Moline VFW #2153 Ladies Auxiliary at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.
Margaret was born August 7, 1919 in Hiteman, IA to John and Blanche (Davidson) Allison. She married Robert Newton Combs on July 21, 1940 in Des Moines, IA. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1994.
Margaret was a member of the Friends of the Rock Island National Cemetery. She helped raise donations from the Quad City area for the WWII Monument in Washington DC. She was a member of the Older Women's League "The Owl Organization" where she was co-founder and former president. She was a member and former president of the Moline VFW #2153 Auxiliary. She was a member of the AARP and The Senior Council where she was the former president. She also belonged to the John Deere Credit Union Retirement Organization. She enjoyed camping, gardening and helping the organizations that she belonged to. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Grandson Derek Combs Dubuque, IA
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Doris Swim and a brother William Allison.
