Margaret Grace Imel

Margaret Grace Imel, 97, of Orion, died on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, 1301 4th St., Orion. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Orion Ambulance. Margaret was born on July 14, 1916, in Milan, the daughter of Fred and Minnie Haas Dunlap. She married Earl E. Imel on Dec. 1, 1954, in Macomb, Ill. He preceded her in death on May 29, 1984. Margaret ironed shirts for the former laundry company, Happy Day; she also baked and delivered pies for the Andover Historical Inn. She was a member of the Beulah Presbyterian Church in Orion. Margaret enjoyed embroidering, sewing, reading, her Chicago Cubs and most of all being Grandma. She is survived by her children, Geraldine (Ed) Bruce, Orion, Joyce (Rodger) Vergane, Colona, and Keith Eckhardt, Orion; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Edna Vroman, Taylor Ridge.
