Margaret E. Jansson , 92, died peacefully on Friday, May 11, 2007 at Hillview Health Care Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She was born on January 6, 1915 in East Moline, Illinois, the oldest daughter of Carl and Hilma Carlson. Margaret graduated from East Moline High School and Business College. She married Nils G. Jansson on May 28, 1938 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in East Moline and they lived together in Moline, Illinois until Nils's death in 1999. They were inseparable during their 60 years of marriage. They had three children. Darlyne, Dwain and Roger. Family was very important to Margaret. While her children were growing, Margaret was a homemaker and always active in Moline school system PTA, supporting her children's interests in Boy Scouts, Music, Church and their education. She and Nils achieved their lifelong goal of seeing all three children graduate from College. They were lifelong members of the Lutheran Church, first at Immanuel and later at Salem in Moline. She was always an active member of the women's volunteer groups. They were also members of the International Order of Good Templars and VASA throughout their lives. She enjoyed crocheting, needle point, playing cards with her friends, soap operas, traveling throughout the United States, traveling to Sweden with the children and grand children, and looking after the grandchildren as well as the neighborhood children. Following Nils's death, Margaret was a resident of Illini Restorative Care in Silvis and most recently Hillview Health Care.
She is survived by her children Darlyne (Lloyd) Powless of DeBary Florida; Dwain (Chris) Jansson of Onalaska, Wisconsin; Dr. Roger (Ellen) Jansson of Davenport, Iowa; 6 grand children: Darnel (Greg) Nemergut; Douglas (Kathy) Powless; Peter (Mary) Jansson; Erik (Molly) Jansson; Vanessa (Christopher) Tayler; Kristina Jansson; 5 Great GrandChildren: Vincent, Matthew, Anna, Sadie and Kate. Preceding her in death were her parents, infant sister, and husband.
Funeral Services will be at 11 am , Wednesday, May 16 at Salem Lutheran Church (1724-15th St., Moline). Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10 am until the time of service Wednesday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Salem Lutheran Church. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline is assisting the family.
