Margene Weber Canute Cordell

Margene Weber Canute Cordell, 92, of Moline, died April 6, 2010 at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Beverley and Jim Ducey.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:50 P.M. on Friday, April 9, 2010 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Union Church, 3154 N 1300 E Road, Cooksville, Illinois, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Wiley Cemetery, Colfax, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Union Church of Cooksville, Illinois.
Margene Weber was born on June 19, 1917, in Cooksville, IL, to John H. and Bessie Richard Weber. She married Edward L. Canute on January 14, 1937 in Bloomington. He preceded her in death on February 28, 1970. She then married Keith E. Cordell on April 28, 1973 in Moline. He also preceded her in death on February 28, 2002.
Margene graduated valedictorian of her class in 1935 from Cooksville High School. After graduation she worked as a clerk at the College Pharmacy in Rock Island. She then worked for 12 years as an accountant with H & H Music. Later Margene & Eddie owned and operated LaFonda Motel, Bettendorf, Iowa for seven years, then moving LaFonda Antiques to Moline, IL for 33 years. She was a childhood member of the Union Church in Cooksville. She was a life-long member of Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island, and most recently a member of First Christian Church, Moline. Most importantly was her love for God, church and her family.
