Marianne Kuehnel

Marianne Kuehnel, 95, of Rock Island, passed away April 6, 2025, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday April 11, 2025, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday April 10, 2025, at the funeral home. The burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans.

Marianne was born on May 3, 1929, in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Daisy (Faust) Barchman. She married David N. Kuehnel on March 4, 1950, at the First Lutheran Church in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on August 12, 2009. Marianne had previously been employed at the Moline Public Hospital as a nurse’s aide, Younkers as an interior decorator, and was the owner and operator of her own interior design business, New Life Interiors. She was a talented seamstress and would sew dresses for herself, her daughter, and for Barbie dolls. She also crocheted dresses for larger dolls. Most of all, she loved her family and Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her daughter, Debra Sue (Jon) Doss of Moline; grandsons, Jonathon Reidy and Robert Reidy; great grandsons, Finn Reidy and Jamie Reidy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter & Daisy; husband, David; son, Steven Ray Kuehnel; and siblings, Evelyn, Robert, and Walter.
