Marie A. Wirt, 94 of Moline died January 27, 2004 at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Isand.
Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2004 at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visiatation will be Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline, Swedona Lutheran Church or to a favorite charity.
Marie A. Peterson was born March 16, 1909 in Swedona to Alfred N. and Hannah M. Ferong Peterson. She married Howard O. Wirt on February 6, 1937 at Salem Lutheran Church in Moline. He preceded her in death in September of 1969.
Marie graduated from Sherrard High School and Brown's Business College in Moline. She was employed by Royal Neighbors of America and at the Rock Island Arsenal from 1953 until January 1972.
Marie was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline. She belonged to the Debra Unit of her church. She enjoyed traveling, playing piano, gardening , hiking and visiting with friends and relatives particularly her sisters and nieces.

She is preceded in death by sisters Lillian Peterson, Dorothy Bull and Frances Mayhew and a brother Leonard Peterson. Her daughter Susan Marie Wirt died at the age of two days in August 1947.
Marie was loved for her kindness, her generous nature and her warm sense of humor. She led a full and happy life.
