Marilynn Joyce Baker, 77, of Avon Park, FL, formerly of Moline, IL, died Monday, June 4, 2012 in Peru, IL.
Memorial Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of cremains will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Moffitt Cancer Center - Sarcoma Clinic, Tampa, FL.
Marilynn was born on August 22, 1934 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Carey E. and Pyrle V. (Peterson) Lewis. She married William Clyde Henderson and then John A. Freude who preceded her in death on January 15, 1982. She later married Melvin Baker who preceded her in death on June 6, 1995. Marilynn worked for a time as the Head Nurse of Pediatrics at Moline Public Hospital leaving in 1978. She then worked at Franciscan largely in the Alzheimer's Division with a certification in Gerentology. She ended her career as a Parish Nurse for Union Congregational and Hope United Church of Christ in Moline where she was a member. After 46 years as a nurse, Marilynn retired in 1996 to Avon Park, FL. She was a Red Hatter, Queen of Honeybees in Avon Park, and very active in Union Congregational Church in Avon Park, FL.
