Mario R. Almanza, 63, of Moline, passed away, Friday, October 23, 2020, at his residence.
Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Moline. Mass of Christian Burial will be held following at 11:00 a.m., at the church. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The ARC of the Quad Cities. In accordance with restrictions, attendees are expected to wear a face mask and observe social distancing.
Mario was born on October 12, 1957 in Moline, the son of John and Virginia (Navarro) Almanza. He married Tracy Petrie on November 4, 1989, in Las Vegas, NV. Mario served in the United States Army from 1978-1981. Mario was a laboratory technician for the city of Moline for 36 years. He loved ice fishing, feeding, and watching birds, music, cars, electronics, and shopping. His two favorite teams to watch were the Cubs and Bears. Mario loved life and his dog Chewy. He took great pride in his work along with being the mascot Splash.
Survivors include his wife, Tracy, children, April Childs, and Ryan Almanza; siblings, Rosemary (Don) Lopez, Mary Carlin-Medina, Al (Linda) Almanza, Juanita “Mona” (Mark) Reyes, Paul “Tony” (Brenda) Almanza, Rita Almanza, Luis Almanza, and Mark Almanza; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ricky.
