Marion D. Ferguson

Marion D. Ferguson, 98, of Florida, formerly of Moline, passed Tuesday February 14, 2023, in Florida.

Memorial services will be held 12:30 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2023, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Inurnment will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted. Memorials may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline or Moline Vikings Club Scholarship.

Marion was born on January 16, 1925, in Pindall, Arkansas, the son of Marion C. and Bessie (Smothers Thompson) Ferguson. Marion was a veteran, having served in the Navy during WWII. He married Margaret C. DeSmet on November 20, 1948, in Paris, Illinois. She preceded him in death on May 28, 2012. Marion was a member of the American Legion Post #246, Moline Vikings Club and a former member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He was previously employed as a general welding foreman at the Rock Island Arsenal. Marion enjoyed golfing, boating, skiing and gardening.

Survivors include his daughter, Janet Marie (George) Wilken, Sorrento, Florida; son, Steven D. Ferguson, Fairfield, California; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Janice Kimes; brothers, Gus, Charles & Earl Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his wife and son, Michael.
