Marion Harris

Marion P. Harris, 86, of East Moline, IL passed away January 22, 2015, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline, IL. After moving from her home near Pittsburgh, PA, in 2004, she has also resided at Arbor Village, Moline and since 2012 has resided at Park Vista, East Moline.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015, at First Evangelical Free Church, 3321 7th Street, Moline, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Cremation will be at a later date. Inurnment will be in Pittsburgh, PA. Memorials may be made to Gideons International.
Marion Jane Plodis was born March 19, 1928, in Mar-Lin, PA, the daughter of Albert and Turine (Sutor) Plodis. She married Willard M. Harris, November 24, 1949, in Pottsville, PA. He preceded her in death, March 28, 2002.
Wherever Marion lived, she became involved with a Bible-believing church and community clubs. She participated fully as a Sunday School teacher, choir member and served on many committees including serving on the local Women's Connection board (formerly Christian Women's Club). In addition, Marion taught children's Bible classes under Child Evangelism for 15 years.
She met her future husband through a community choir production of the "Messiah" and later went on to sing both solos and in groups. The Gideon's ministry of supplying bibles to hotels, students, nurses and servicemen was important to both Marion and Willard. Marion also enjoyed handicrafts such as sewing, quilting, rug hooking as well as cooking.
Reunions with her extended family were a highlight. Meeting on the East Coast seashore every other year helped to keep the five sisters and their families connected.
Survivors include daughters, Barbara (Stan) Clauson, Moline, IL; Beverly (John) Grau, Williamsburg, VA; son, Roger Harris, West Branch, IA; sisters, Irene Bubernak, Los Alamos, NM; Roma (Bob) Sailors, Germantown, TN; Carol Seltzer, University Park, FL; brother-in-law, Bruce Hummel, Schulykill Haven, PA; grandsons, Jonathan (Lisa) Clauson, Mount Dora, FL; Stephen Grau, Geoffrey Grau, VA; great grandson, David Clauson, Mt. Dora, FL; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Joan Plodis, Norma Hummel; brother, Albert Plodis; brothers-in-law, Bob Seltzer, Frank Macko, Joe Bubernak; and nieces, Jana Bubernak and Karen Macko.
