Marion D. Holtz, age 90 of Moline died Saturday, June 24, 2006 at Silver Cross Nursing Center-Friendship Manor, Rock Island.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Visitation is 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Estate.
Marion was born July 20, 1915 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada the daughter of James T. and Jessie Taylor Horne. She married John "Jack" Holtz on September 6, 1941. They resided in Moline.
Marion was employed as an elementary grade school teacher in the Elmwood district of Winnipeg. She loved children and was the den mother to two Cub Scout troops while her boys were growing up. Marion was a long time volunteer in the gift shop at the former Moline Lutheran Hospital. She was an accomplished seamstress, making many costumes for the Genesius Guild and other local theatres including Galvin Fine Arts while her daughter was attending St Ambrose University.
